The life I envision for my family is a different one. No religion. No public schools.
It's so interesting to think about the system we live in. The system that is government. The system that is the food industry. The system that is the educational institution. The system that is society. I wouldn't say it's all bad, but I see a different way. A different life for my family.
All systems, as the way I see it today, are primarily ego driven. Ego driven. Who writes the curriculum for schools? The whole one size fits all mentality is ludicrous. Everyone is different. Everyone learns in different ways. Instead of going into a classroom with synthetic lighting and a teacher trying to teach a bunch of kids what the curriculum says they "should" know, my kids will go out into nature barefoot under the sun. Instead of going into the lunchroom with all the artificial cheap food-like substances, I'll take my kids out into our permaculture style garden where we will connect to the food we eat, and I'll show them how to prepare it simply and healthfully with awareness.
The homeschooling will be interest driven, so all I really hope to do is create an amazingly loving spiritual environment, with the best food & herbs planet earth has to offer, and lots of different animals, where my kids will have a massive variety of raw experiences so that they can figure out themselves what makes them happy. Who am I to tell anyone, even my own kids, what they should or shouldn't believe in? That is entirely up to them. Period.
With all the amazing experiences I've had traveling overseas using resources like wwoofing.com and workaway.info I will no doubt be a host for travelers all over the world. Not only because when I do settle down, I will miss traveling, but because it will be so enriching for my kids to have that interaction.
I have a lot more ideas, but that is the gist of it. And I definitely don't see myself living totally off the grid or away from society or without technology or anything like that, but I do see myself using sustainable energy sources, tapping into a local spring for all our water needs, and designing (along with my wife) our home, as well as even helping build it.

For real, AMEN to all of that! Couldn't agree more. :)
