View from Salvatore's parents. Sicily is the absolute dream for any writer, poet, artist, musician, etc. I mean this is a normal view anywhere you go. Every word is an understatement for what this feels like.
We spent most of the day making classic tomato sauce at Salvatore's parents home. They have this day once a year where they make it together and it is enough to last a year, for several families. We started chopping up 12 crates of local tomatoes. Imagine one of those big plastic pools, full of tomatoes! Salvatore's grandma was chopping up some onions, and I have to put this on here, she was letting out some farts that I thought only men could do. She wasn't aware of it. Next they put everything in giant pots that were maybe 4 feet by 4 feet and started up a fire. Tomatoes, onions, salt, and basil. Simple but so good. I was the official lid tightener and after the day was over my hands were covered in blisters. I'm glad I got to experience it though.
Stayin' elevated. Ha.
I've never seen so many cats. Seems like everyone has at least a couple. It's definitely a sure way to take care of any mice.
